Smart Vision Hospital is a pioneering healthcare initiative from the Hindustan Group of Institutions, founded by the esteemed Dr. Susan Verghese, who serves as the Medical Director. Dr. Verghese, also holding the position of Director at Hindustan College of Arts & Sciences, is the daughter of Dr. KCG Verghese, the visionary founder of the Hindustan Group of Institutions. With a distinguished reputation as one of the leading ophthalmologists in Chennai, Dr. Susan Verghese identified the pressing need for a comprehensive healthcare center that caters to both eye care and diabetes management.

The prevalence of diabetes is a significant concern in India, with a staggering 69.2 million people living with the condition, accounting for 8.7% of the population, according to 2015 data. Diabetes is recognized as one of the main causes of degeneration in vision, underscoring the urgency to address this growing health issue. Smart Vision & Diabetes Clinic was established with the primary objective of increasing awareness about the rise in diabetes and its profound consequences, particularly on vision health.
