ABOUT US
Smart Vision& Diabetes Clinic is a health initiative from the Hindustan Group of Institutions founded by Dr Susan Verghese, Medical Director. She is also the Director, Hindustan College of Arts & Sciences, and the daughter of Dr KCG Verghese, founder of the Hindustan Group of Institutions.
She is one of the leading ophthalmologists in Chennai, and identified the need for a centre to meet the growing demand for both comprehensive eye care and diabetes, one of the main causes of degeneration in vision. India also has 69.2 million people living with diabetes (8.7%) as per the 2015 data. We aim to increase awareness about the rise in diabetes, and its staggering burden and consequences. Smart Vision & Diabetes clinic was founded to meet this need.

Did you know that your vision changes as you age? There are steps that you can take to lower your risk of age-related vision problems.
- Wear protective sun glasses which blocks harmful ultra violet rays or polarised sun glasses.
- Diet should be healthy mix of green leafy vegetables with rich in antioxidants, eggs rich in lutein, zeaxanthin, fish & flax seed and food rich in omega 3 fatty acids.
- Smoking and alcohol to be avoided.
- Daily exercise
